Prince Charles - His Role

As Heir to the Throne, The Prince of Wales, with the support of his wife, seeks to do all he can to use his unique position to make a difference for the better both in the UK and internationally.

Among his many responsibilities is the support of The Queen which involves supporting her as the main focal point for Britain's national pride. The unity of the nation, bringing people together from all sections of society and maintaining the nation's stability are among the vital roles that The Queen and The Prince of Wales maintain. Emphasising the importance of the voluntary sector by showing encouragement and leading by example.

Charles became The Prince of Wales at the age of nine, and since then has had a very special relationship with both the Welsh people and the country itself. The Prince enjoys regular visits to Wales and undertakes a week of engagements every summer.

    Prince Charles - Interests

    The Prince of Wales has a wide variety of interests including a multitude of sports, gardening, the performing arts and painting in watercolours. Some of The Prince's watercolours have been sold and the proceeds have been donated to The Prince's Charities Foundation.

    The Prince regularly attends theatre and opera performances and very much enjoys all of the performing arts.

    Over recent years Prince Charles has participated in many varied sports including scuba diving, sailing and racing. Up until recently, November 2005, The Prince raised funds for various charities by playing polo, but has now decided to retire from the sport after playing the game for over forty years.
