Princess Diana - Overview

Princess Diana, or as she more formally known, Princess of Wales, died on Sunday, 31st August 1997 after being involved in a road traffic accident in the french city of Paris.

Following her tragic death, there was widespread, and I'd hasten to add, unprecidented public mourning at the death of one of Britain's most popular royal figures. This culminated with her funeral which was held at Westminster Abbey on Saturday, 6th September, 1997.

During her short life, in her capacity as Princess of Wales, she was enormously important to a wide variety of charities and societies. So much so that, even after her death, Diana's work lives on in the form of commemorative charities and a multitude of projects set up in order to help those less fortunate or in need.
